Got Cents? button
If you are interested in receiving a "Got Cents?" button, please contact us at info@gotcents.org and provide us with a mailing address and the details of how many buttons you might need.
Take a chance! See what happens when your neighbors start to see you as a "penny person." With our informational letter, folded into a sandwich-sized zip-lock bag, together with a button, you will be amazed at how many pennies you can collect.
Penny wars are a fun fundraising idea for the entire school, as a competition among classes or grades. Each class or grade is designated as a team to compete against other teams. Teams compete by collecting points in the form of pennies. Each penny counts as one point, but all other money counts as negative points. Team members can put pennies in their jars or other money in another team's jar. For example, a team that seems to have the lead after the first week, might receive nickels (-5 points), dimes (-10 points) or $10 bills (-1,000 points) to help bring them back in line with other teams.
If your school is willing to consider having a penny war to help raise pennies for "Change for a Penny," please let us know so that we can put your school's name on our website, provide you with buttons, information cards, website addresses for students to learn more about HIV/AIDS in Africa, and coordinate logistics on penny counting and pick-up once you are done. Write us at info@gotcents.org.
Many businesses (doctors, dentists, dry cleaners, grocery stores, etc.) have agreed to set up "penny jars" with a stack of information cards.
Would you consider asking the businesses you visit frequently if they would set up a jar to collect pennies? Generally, we've found that most places are willing to help, if you are willing to ask.
